Member Spotlight—Amber Morris

Amber Morris is the Manager of Physical Security and Business Continuity at Grow Financial Federal Credit Union. She oversees the physical security and business continuity activities for 26 locations spread across seven counties in two different states. She partners with all business unit leaders and store managers to gain insight and views on how security decisions can enhance the member experience and make the employees feel protected at their place of employment. She also informs the Executive Management Team on the changing security threats the credit union faces and serves as the Incident Management Team Leader during an outage, disruption or emergency. After nearly a decade working for the government, she relocated to Florida and started her career in the private sector. Amber knows what it takes to succeed in both of her roles and stays abreast on changes within both industries.

Amber’s career began in the Air Force in Security Forces. From there she went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the Weapons of Mass Destruction Unit. She gained invaluable experience by singlehandedly managing a budget of $4,100,000.00. Following the FBI, she worked for the Air Force as a civilian, both at the wing (11WG) and district (ADFW) level. With each role, she added experiences to her resume and had played an integral part in significant events. These events include the 2013 Presidential Inauguration, 2014 US- Africa Leaders’ Summit and 2015 Joint Base Andrews Air Show. She served as the action officer/project officer and oversaw security, logistics and all other aspects associated with the Air Force. Upon moving from Maryland to Florida, she landed her role with Grow Financial. She has been with Grow for 18 months and has expanded and enhanced their physical security and business continuity programs.

Amber is a certified Business Continuity professional through BCI and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of the Greater Tampa Bay Association of Continuity Professionals and ASIS International. Amber is active in the lives of her two young children, serving on the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and School Advisory Council (SAC) at their school. She also enjoys running, spending time at the beach and exploring new places both near and far.
